It should be remembered that the wipers greatly affect driving safety. It is not worth deciding to buy low-quality products.

As a rule, wipers should be replaced before and after the season, i.e. before and after winter. Replacement before winter will allow us to save a situation where, for example, an old wiper will freeze to the windshield due to reduced usability, or it will be damaged so much that it will be impossible to continue driving due to difficult weather conditions. In addition, during the summer period, the wipers were exposed to UV rays, which affects the ageing of the rubber. Another replacement of the wipers should take place right after winter because while the winter was frosty, the rubber is largely damaged and may not wipe the windshield well. Of course, the replacement depends largely on the driver’s decision, if we have good visibility and the wiper wipes the glass well, there is no need to replace it.

Both models of wipers fit your car model because both of them can be fitted with the A handle. The WA model is a set of wipers dedicated to a given car model in lengths recommended by the manufacturer. The MT model is a multifunctional wiper (multi-clip) with the possibility of replacing individual adapters, among others A. mounts. Both models are equally good and will work flawlessly in your car. In our opinion: NOT WORTH IT. Wipers in authorized services are sometimes several times more expensive than OXIMO products, which does not translate into quality. Very often it is the same product, but produced under the brand of a car concern.

The wiper blade is made of metal, plastic and rubber. A special rubber mixture from which the insert is made is resistant to low and high temperatures, UV radiation, and alcohols used in washer fluids. Unfortunately, nothing is forever, and time and operation do their job. The rubber eventually hardens, becoming inflexible and brittle. The most vulnerable to destruction is the so-called rubber sting. The friction against the harder glass causes the edges of the glass to be rounded, which in turn leads to a decrease in wiping efficiency. Numerous streaks appear. In the winter months, the gum stinger is often torn or completely destroyed. In this case, we absolutely have to replace the pen because hard, metal elements can scratch the glass, which will expose us to high costs of its replacement!

During the operation of the car, not only the rubber of the wiper but also other elements of the system wears out. The surface of the car’s windshield is constantly bombarded with sand particles, pebbles, dust and mud. The older the car, the higher the mileage – the more damaged the windshield. Under microscopic magnification, you can see that its surface is porous like a pumice stone. Oil and grease residues lifted from the road surface, insect residues, waxes from washing preparations to protect the car paint, get into the pores on the glass surface. All these factors influence the quality of the rubbing and the service life of the rubber. Therefore, after washing the car, it is recommended to thoroughly wash the glass by hand with the use of preparations for cleaning the glass. This treatment will degrease the glass, remove the remains of insects, waxes and other impurities. You should also remember to use the appropriate washer fluids. A very concentrated, unsuitable liquid does not have to wash off better, on the contrary, it can have a destructive effect on the wiper rubber, shortening its life. In the course of our laboratory tests, we observed that, in the absence of severe frosts, the best wiping effect is obtained by gently diluting the winter fluid with distilled or demineralized water. Plain water can leave limescale in the tank, hoses and sprinkler nozzles!

A very important and underrated element of the wiper system is the arm. The pressure of the blade coming from the spring in the arm decreases with the use of the car and may cause poor wiping efficiency of even new wipers. Salt, mud, sand and dust cause rubbing of the movable joint of the arm, which reduces the pressure of the blade against the glass, and consequently the wipers do not work properly. There will be streaks on the glass and not rubbed fragments. In extreme cases, the lack of any pressure was observed, so the pen did not wipe at all! In such a situation, you can try to improve the mobility of the joint by lubricating it with penetrating oil in the spray, bending and putting the arm on the glass several times. The correct pressure of the arm is particularly important when using flat blades – no lever! If the arm has been bent for some reason (e.g. car after bruises, defective automatic car wash brushes, etc.), the work of the pen may appear as jumping or grinding, especially in one direction. The feather’s sting must be perpendicular to the glass surface. This is a very common problem and in this case, the arm geometry should be corrected or simply replaced.

The last element is the wiper drive system. In older cars, the spindles on which the wipers are mounted and the sliding elements of the lever system hidden in the shaft are often seized. Squeaking and uneven, jerky wiping operation can be a sign of this. As a rule, these elements cannot be dismantled, but the use of a few drops of penetrating grease – oil can eliminate this phenomenon for some time. Also, excessive system clearances caused by operation may lead to incorrect operation of the wipers. The entire geometry of the system changes in an uncontrolled manner and the symptoms may be identical – jerky, uneven work, or even the blade hitting the glass seal. Unfortunately, in this case, we are forced to replace the entire wiper drive system. All observations presented here result from over thirty years of experience and laboratory research of our company.
